Mother's Day Treat

I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day? I was very spoilt by daughter Sophie and her boyfriend Bryn, not only did they give me some wonderful gifts but they took me to a super restaurant which I have wanted to try for a long time. The West House in Biddenden, Kent is a Michelin star restaurant so I was excited to try the food, I wasn't disappointed, it was divine. We all had the taster menu which consisted of five courses and each one was superb. It's a great way to try some of their dishes, £50 a head or £85 with wines to compliment each course, we stuck with a couple of bottles of lovely champagne! We got chatting to the lovely waitress who turned out to be the chef and owners wife, Graham Garratt has cooked for the Queen and is a highly regarded top chef. We found out that we had attended the same senior school (small world) I can always spot a Londoner! Our maths teacher was Brian May of Queen fame lol, we had a laugh about that. I took some photos of the courses all except the cheese which came before the pudding, I think I was concentrating on the eating of it lol! So here is the tasting menu, it really is exceptional food and a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion.

Biddenden Village, Kent

The West House, Chef Graham Garratt

Gorgeous home made bread and cheese biscuits came with butter and 'dripping' that's a first!

Smoked Haddock Carpaccio, bacon dressing, pickled rock samphire, pea shoots

Duck liver parfait, duck confit, pickled rhubarb, cured foie gras, spiced bread, amazing!

Wild sea bass, wild garlic risotto, wild mushrooms, crispy shallot

Barbary duck breast, mushroom tortellini, beetroot, lapsang duck tea, then we had a cheese course which I forgot to take a photo of, too busy noshing!

White Chocolate honeycomb parfait, dark chocolate sorbet
Well looking at those photos again I want to eat it all over!
