Slightly late Flashback Friday-Keep Calm and Carry on!

Have you ever wondered where the phrase Keep Calm and Carry on comes from? If you don't know here is a fascinating video on the history of it.

You probably know I am crazy about books, well Barter book shop which is featured in the video is my kind of heaven, what a place! I have never been to Northumberland and because of the story and the history it is on my list of places to visit this Summer. Alnwick looks like just my kind of place! Maybe my book mad friend Inge will come with me?

Spring has Sprung!

Spring has sprung once again and the beautiful daffodils have bloomed in their golden glory. I took Biba out for a walk today and came upon 'a host of golden daffodils' The Wordsworth poem has always been a favourite of mine so here it is and some photos of my lane.

Making friends!

I couldn't resist posting this cute photo of my Siamese Biba and Granddaughter Jessica eyeing each other up, it was taken on Mother's day and apart from having no water for the day, night and next day due to a burst water main we all had a lovely time. It is a bit of a wake up call, we take for granted just turning on the taps and clean, fresh water appears, it makes you think of those countries where clean water is a luxury. We are hearing of a water shortage in the South but it always amazes me that we are an island surrounded by water and as soon as we hit a dry patch we are in a drought! Anyway, I have always hated wasting water and now I am even more vigilant in conserving it, even turning the tap off while cleaning your teeth can save a lot and showers instead of baths are more economical, didn't mean to turn this into a lecture! Anyway enough, hope your week will be a wonderful one, hugs!
