Flashback Friday-A British Institution-Desert Island Discs

Your Desert Island!

My flashback today is the British institution.....Desert Island Discs, a radio programme that has been on air every week since 1942!!! A huge favourite of mine and if you are not familiar with it, this is how it goes. A celebrity is chosen and asked to pick eight of their favourite music tracks that they would take to a desert island, they are allowed one luxury, the full works of shakespeare, one book and the Bible. Before each track is played they are asked why they love the piece of music and how it affected their lives. The inventor of this great programme was Roy Plomley and although their have been other presenters through the years he remains my very favourite.

I have always wanted to do a Desert Island Dinner or Lunch so on Boxing Day this year my family and I are going to do just that, we will choose eight tracks and explain what they mean to us, should make for a long and interesting lunch! I have my eight tracks but can't tell you as I don't want them to find out yet! Here is a little taster of what the programme is like, featuring Paul Mcartney. Don't forget to pause the music on the blog if you want to watch the video, happy weekend, hugs xxxx By the way if any of you have your Desert Island Disc list, do let me know what they are and I will publish them on the blog!
