View of the River Thames from Somerset House
The Venue for London Fashion Weekend is the fabulous Somerset House on the bank of the River Thames, a really majestic setting for our amazing British designers! As you know my daughter Sophie works for Gushlow and Cole who make the most wonderful fine sheepskin, goatskin, rabbit and baby lamb coats, jackets and accessories and twice a year they show their fabulous wares at LFW.  We had a great day on Sunday browsing the designer fashions, quaffing champagne and indulging in a little retail therapy! If you have never been to LFW I urge you to go, the next one is in February, you will find such amazing designer bargains at a fraction of the original cost. There are catwalk shows, vintage fashion, champagne bars, cafes, makeup tutorials and much more.  Sophie bought a lovely Vivienne Westwood necklace, a Elizabeth Lau dress and a Ted Baker ring and of course I couldn't come away without a couple of Lola Rose rings!! I also treated myself to a new sheepskin collar from Gushlow and Cole in one of their new colours Polar. You can wear them in so many ways and are such a great addition to your winter wardrobe. Please come and say hello, I would love to hear from you, hugs xxxx

The Cloth Hall, Headcorn Antique Centre, Kent

As you probably know I am crazy about anything Vintage and that includes buildings! I work for just an afternoon a week in a stunning 15th Century building called The Cloth Hall, this is where cloth merchants would weave and sell their wears. The interior is heavily beamed, with crooked walls and floors, and we swear we have heard the resident ghost on many occasions walking above us on the empty top floor!!! The Cloth Hall is currently the Headcorn Antiques Centre where I have some of my hand made jewellery for sale. If you are ever in the area please do come and see us, we have everything but the kitchen sink, hang on......I think we may have one of those too!!!

Vintage Bliss

Vintage Bliss
The lovely Cheryl who owns the Hall has started a new venture, Vintage Bliss, which supplies Vintage china for Weddings, Tea Parties or any other Vintage soiree! Please contact me or The Cloth Hall if you have any inquiries. Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead, hugs xxxxx

Autumn Leaves

Autumn is well and truly upon us and with it comes the stunning colours of the changing leaves. I took these photos this afternoon outiside the house, I couldn't really capture the beauty of the vibrant colours that in real life literally glow but here are a couple.

The Orphaned Adult

Please accept my apologies for not posting for a few weeks. August and September are always hard months for me. I lost my beloved Mum and Dad in consecutive months so even the weather affects me, the humid heat of August reminds me of driving up to London every day to visit my Mum in St. Christopher's Hospice and the turning leaves of September of my  Dad.  Although I am supposed to be 'grown up' and even have a baby Granddaughter of my own, the longing for my parents never diminishes. I really don't envy other people  their success or possessions but the people I envy are those who still have parents. I hope they know how lucky they are!  But I must think myself so very fortunate to have had such wonderful parents and that's why I miss them so much.  The  video of Frank Sinatra's Autumn Leaves really sums up how I feel.

My Mum and Dad, Jess and Ben

A few of my favourtie things
Mum and Dad, Jess and Ben, on their Wedding day,Mum said she was a little 'tiddly' as she was so nervous! Some of my favourite things, especially the little white bible which my Nanny gave me in 1960, I keep the cards which were attached to Mum and Dad's flowers.

I hope to be back to 'normal 'soon, not that I was ever 'normal' lol!!!! Wishing you a safe and wonderful week ahead, hugs, xxxxx  P.S If you want to listen to the video don't forget to pause the blog music!

Oh and Sophie is off to Paris tomorrow, and we will be at London Fashion Weekend next weekend at Somerset House so be sure to visit the blog for some hopefully great photos!
