One of my very favourite things to receive is a hand written note or letter. How lovely to find amongst the bills and circulars an envelope with actual writing on it, in these days of emails which are instant and so useful we seem to be writing letters less and less. I remember at school winning prizes for my handwriting, and I still love to write with a proper fountain pen. Last Christmas my brother bought me a beautiful Mont Blanc fountain pen and I take great pleasure in using it.
I realise that everyone's time is precious nowadays but I know that people really do appreciate a hand written letter, it shows you have thought of them and taken the time out of your day to spend a few minutes putting pen to paper. Letters are precious so don't let them die out like so many of our traditions have done, put that stamp on and walk down to the letter box!!
